Bicentennial

The Port of Houston Authority commissioned these six paintings in celebration of the Bicentennial tracing the history of the Port from its earliest days as an overgrown bayou to its present status as a bustling center of commerce.

The paintings appeared as the cover of the Port of Houston magazine, every two months, for a year, as each painting was completed. The Port of Houston made lithographs and the lithographs were accepted by Prince Charles for Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee, the Smithsonian Institution, President Jimmy Carter, and numerous museums and historical organizations around the United States. The group of six lithographs has won a National First Place for prints.
